Online shopping has made it harder for physical stores to keep their customers, and many of them are struggling to do the sales they need to keep their heads above water. If you want to attract more people to your store the one thing that really matters is appearance. It has to be appealing and eye catching if you want more foot traffic buying your goods.
Signage
Your sign needs to be different from the usual block letters that just spell out your name and phone number. Although you may have to work within the restrictions of the development or street you are in, you will attract more people with signs that are colorful and have graphics as well. Even digital signs can make a difference and are worth considering.
Then if some is searching for a shoe company, for instance, the sign will stand out more and the business will be much easier to find.
Window Displays
Window displays are a great way of advertising your products, and it does not cost any money to do. People, who perhaps would not normally call into your store, could be sheltering from the rain and spot something in your window display that means they become one of your customers. They could just be passing by on an evening stroll, and an item could catch their attention. Good windows displays are a must if you want more customers in your store.
Put Your Best Goods Out Front
If the products you sell are large enough, such as babies prams or cycles, have them on display outside the front of your store. Of course, you need to be careful you do not block the walkways, but a pregnant mum might just see the pram she has been searching everywhere for.
Parking Lots
Most people who visit your business and the ones around you are also going to be using the local parking lot. Have a sign there that points to your store and that makes it look and sound as though it should not be missed. If you are allowed to put an illuminated sign, that would be even better. You could have one where the writing can be changed, and use it to show any special offers or new products.
Decorate The Outside Of Your Store
If you can make it so that your store is recognizable to everyone because of what you sell, that would be a great idea. Painting the outer walls a different color to the other stores around you then makes it simpler for people to spot you store. It also makes it easier for them to direct other potential customers, as all they have to do is say ‘look for the green store on such and such a street’.
Do not forget to put seasonal decorations up as well. At times like Christmas and Easter, customers expect to see stores celebrating the festivities.
Oh, and you should definitely spend some time on the inside too, not just the exterior. Hire a good flooring company to put down a nice hard-wearing floor, repaint the walls a more inviting color, and take the time to lay everything out intuitively and it will make a huge difference, Everything needs to be as appealing as possible.
Physical stores are fighting back against the online revolution, and in some areas this is proving to be successful. Although buying online can be very easy, there is nothing quite like browsing around a store before you buy.
