To outsource or to not outsource, that is the question. That’s the question that a lot of companies find themselves questioning, but at the route of it all, you could probably outsource pretty much every part of your business and get away with it. But you lose all control when that happens. Some parts of your business you might also not be able to outsource as successfully as others. So you could pay all that money to have another company doing it, when putting in a little bit more effort and doing it yourself could make it be done right! So, although it might be tempting to outsource the parts of your business that are causing you some troubles, we don’t think you actually should do. Which is why we’re going to show you what jobs you should definitely try and outsource, and ones you should definitely try and keep in house.
The Do’s
We’re going to talk to you about the do’s first, because we want you to make the right decision with your outsourcing. One of the best areas you can outsource is the management of your employees, and systems that would be involved with that. Your employees are essentially the beating heart of your business, and the stress they can cause can drive a company round the best. So, using a PEO Firm might be a really good solution for this. They can focus on managing the big tasks involved with having employees, and you can focus on the smaller tasks that involve them, such as making sure their wellbeing is a top priority whilst they’re at work!
The second do that we really think you should be outsourcing is your marketing, purely because it’s so much easier to manage when outsourced, and so much more effective. You can explore a range of different options if you hire a marketing consultant, as they’ll know what might work for your company and what might not! Just make sure you’re going through a trust company who actually has the knowledge to take your marketing campaign further and further!
The Don’ts
One thing we definitely don’t think you should outsource, is your hiring process. Some people like to outsource it and take a hands off approach, but we just believe that it takes so much more time to sort, and so much more money. Most recruitment companies will ask for such a big fee up front, and an even bigger one for securing the employee to your company. Doing it yourself might mean more man power for you, but it will mean you get the job done more efficiently.
The second thing we don’t think you should outsource is anything to do with your products. Your products should be designed, produced, and sent out by you. Again, this helps to keep things more stable and managed. If you start outsourcing parts of the process, you could compromise the quality of your products, and you could risk delays in manufacturing which would definitely upset customers.
