There’s a lot of thought that goes into designing an office that’s perfect for your business needs; you have a space where all your employees can integrate together and mingle to produce the best work, you have an extra cubicle or private office for you to work in, and then there’s the network or server room, to make sure no one is tripping over equipment that’s taking up valuable room.
All these ideas work well in practice, but are they good enough for you future theories? You want to take your business up and up, as high as it will go, whilst you’ve got the company power to do so, so you’re going to need to make sure your office takes these ambitions into account as well. And this post is here to help with that.
Invest in More Space
This seems like the first and most simple option, but it can often be carried out in the wrong way. Your business is expanding, you need more floor space to cope with all the new equipment and personalities you’re bringing on, and you need the perfect location to host all of this!
If you’re working within some kind of tower or executive block, the best thing to do would be to buy out more space either above or below you. But if you’re working in an office behind a shopfront, you’re going to have to do your market research before spending your money, especially on that commercial space that recently come available just a few miles away – you’ve got this region covered, where else would be better for you to go?
Factor in Remote Workers
Just because you’re running out of office space for your expanding business doesn’t mean you don’t have the ability to take on more workers. It’s a simple idea really: you hire on people you know are skilled enough to make a difference within your company, and then you allow them to work from home, with deadlines and check-in times you set at your own pace.
By allowing a benefit such as remote working, but then imposing your own pace on it, you make sure there’s never any slacking feeling surrounding those who use their own homes as office.
And then you get to ensure the remote workers in your company do just as much for your products or services as those who behind the desks in the working environment, helping to remove any sense of inequality! Factor in some connected coworking spaces, just to really make sure everything a remote worker needs access to will be available for them, and you can keep an eye on this access at the same time!
Your office doesn’t have to hinder your dreams, and if you feel ready for expansion, make sure you’re doing everything you can to get the ball rolling. The business world won’t wait for you – you’re going to have to take it by the horns!
