11 Reasons Your Website Is Failing To Get Results

November 1, 2018 By Editor

So, you’ve built a website, you think it’s great, and you’re just waiting for the results to roll in. And waiting. And waiting…and waiting some more. If you feel like you’ve been waiting an age for your website to get results, then there’s probably good reason for this. Below we have 11 reasons your website is failing to get results and what you can do about them.

1. Your Content Just Isn’t Good Enough

Content is king in this day and age; high quality content can make the biggest difference to how successful your website is. In fact, Google have become very efficient in recognizing good content. In years gone by, you could trick search engines by sending a few backlinks to your content and get rankings, but this is no longer the case – and if you try to do things like this, you may be penalized.

Good content should be many things. It should be fresh, unique, and relevant to a site. It shouldn’t be promotional, but well researched and unbiased. It should be free from spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. It should also take any SEO updates into account, such as Panda and Penguin.

2. Your Website is Slow

Speed is a ranking factor on your site, and many studies have proven that users are far more likely to visit your website if it loads quickly. If your site doesn’t load in less than 4 seconds, people will leave and make a mental note not to come back. There are numerous ways you can speed up your site. Getting rid of unnecessary files can help, as can investing in better hosting from places like Hosty. Make sure you do your research and figure out what you can do to speed  things up.

3. You’re Not Trying To Solve Problems

Writing your website with how wonderful you are in mind isn’t actually the best way to get results. You want to talk about the problems you can solve for your audience instead. Let them know that you understand the problems they face and that you have the perfect solution for them.

4. You’re Not Working With The Right Seo Company

There are a ton of SEO companies out there, so unfortunately it’s very easy to end up working with the wrong one. They may have promised you a place in the top 3 results, but their methods and techniques could actually be hindering your ability to attract organic traffic. Taking your time to choose a suitable SEO firm is a must. Don’t be dazzled by complicated jargon, and instead do your due diligence and research to find the right company for you.

5. You Haven’t Made Your Site Conversion Friendly

You want to turn your visitors into customers, as visitors alone are not a great way to get results. Optimizing your site is key for this. Is your website design able to breathe? Is your navigation easy to understand? Do you have strategic calls to action in place? Are your testimonials prominent? Are you using quality, relevant imagery to break up your content? Perhaps you could change the colors, fonts, or something else to make your site more effective. You need to be asking yourself all of these questions and more.

6. You’re Not Focusing On Results

We already mentioned that you need to be focusing on solving problems, but in the same vein, you need to be focusing on results, too. Let’s say you sell a sewing machine. Customers don’t just want a sewing machine; they want something that is going to help them to sew high quality garments more efficiently. Focus on the results the machine can give them, and how easy the machine is to use, rather than the machine itself.

7. You Need To Work On Improving The User Experience

You need a great user experience if you’re going to attract customers and then retain them.

You could improve your user experience by speeding up the load time, or creating content that educates and engages your prospective customers so they keep coming back to learn more. There are numerous things you can do – consider having people test out the site and give you feedback on the experience.

8. You Don’t Know Exactly Who Your Audience Are

If you want to create a highly targeted website that really speaks to your audience, you’re going to need to make sure you know who your audience are. By creating consumer profiles you’ll be able to get a good idea of the various professions, personalities, and other things your audience possess so that you can create content that appeals to them. Doing this earlier on will help you to get much better results.

9. Your Target Keywords Aren’t Right For You

Choosing the right keywords is a must. If you choose keywords that are too broad, you’re not going to get the same results that you would by choosing more niche keywords. The more specific you can be, the more targeted the audience you will attract. Doing thorough keyword research and taking your time to select the right keywords to focus on is imperative.

10. You Haven’t Got A Strong Social Media Presence

Having a strong social media presence is important these days, as most people will check out social profiles before checking out your site, or at least at the same time as doing so. Working on building a strong social media presence from the beginning should help you to get more site traffic.

11. Your Site Isn’t Responsive

This is a really simple one. The fact is, most people now visit websites using their mobile phones or tablets. If you don’t have a responsive site, you’re going to end up losing visitors and traffic because they can’t see your site properly. Your site should be usable on all devices, so plan for this from the start.
